Erving State Forest
Erving Massachusetts:

• Dates: July 19–21, 2002.
• Vibe: Densely wooded sites within walking distance to a small swimming lake.
• Pros: Quiet, Sites nicely spaced, real forest feel; pleasant lake with a nice beach and good swimming
• Cons: Minor stuff: pit toilets; showers were somewhat distant from our site; 156 miles (as the crow flies) from New York.
• Verdict: Just another terrific Massachusetts state campground! Well worth the distance from NYC.

Our second time here with my friend Aaron and his daughter Aleeza. What a difference a year makes! We finally bought a car! Our two-year-olds turned to three-year-olds and now our five-year-old doesn't seem that much older anymore. If that wasn't enough, Jana wasn't able to join us, because she was expecting a little sister to arrive any day now!

Most of the things I mentioned on our first visit still apply, of course.
