Growing up south of Boston, our family made several trips to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island.

The highlight of this trip was a morning drive up to the top of Mount Cadillac. Mount Cadillac isn't all the tall—it's only 1530 feet above sea level—but unlike other mountains, it actually rises above the sea. From the bare summit, there are sweeping views of Frenchman's Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. After enjoying the view, we followed a trail that led directly down to the campground.
